American Home Schools

Clicking the waving American Flag on any page will always take you HOME.

Every one of the continental United States allows home schooling in one form or another. Some require extensive records and even association with a church, while others require nothing but a formal declaration that you will be home schooling your child. Some require nothing at all.

While you may view the legal summary for a specific State by clicking a link below, we suggest you study that State law in detail to make sure you are following those requirements to the letter.

Basically, state laws govern attendance of school students. Most home schools are considered private schools that do not come under the legal governing by state laws which are designed to apply to public schools only. Usually, curricula are determined by the home school teacher, but some states require a minimum subject listing. (Scroll down to the coded map below for specific state requirements).
